The PAX 10K Arena will be a 4 on 4 sealed team event. Team may sign up together or will be made up of individuals that sign up for the event.
Teams will compete in a randomly paired league event, with the 8 highest scoring teams from the qualifying round advancing to the playoffs.
This event uses the Sealed Tournament Rules found in the Universal Guild Wars Tournament Rules.
Each team will sit down and play 3 battles against their randomly determined opponent.
After each battle, the winning team earns 3 points, and the losing team earns 1 point. Any match that is not completed after 10 minutes of game time will end as a draw with neither team earning any points. Battles that end in draws DO count as one of the 3 battles your team plays.
After the two teams have played 3 battles against each other, both teams must give up their seats to allow the next 2 teams in the queue to compete. Each team can then go back into line and wait until a set of computers opens up so that they may compete again to earn additional points. (The team that earned the higher total of points gets to go into the queue ahead of their opponent).
Players found using skills other than what are represented on their skill cards will forfeit that match for their team. If a player is found doing this a second time, they and their team will dropped from the event with no opportunity to receive any prizes.
At the end of the qualifier, the four teams that has earned the most points advances to the playoffs on Sunday.
The playoffs has the 4 qualifying teams play against each other in two rounds of tournament play with the two winners of the 1st round playing against each other for 1st and 2nd place, and the two other teams playing against each other for 3rd and 4th place.
All points earned each qualifying round are kept and added together for each team to determine the results for 5th – 8th place. The team with the highest point total that did not advance to the playoffs will come in 5th place, the next highest team total will come in 6th place, and then the same for 7th and 8th place.
All participants will receive 1 set (2) of previously released Guild Wars skill pins while supplies last.
The top 8 finishing teams win cash awards as shown below:
